· Due to increased pressure from the Calderón administration, some members of Mexican organized crime may begin crossing the border in significant numbers to set up US-based operations.

Dozens of murders have resulted from battles between the Mexican security forces and armed criminals along the US-Mexico border since the beginning of this year. It is a spike in violence that has many in the US worried that gunfights may spill across the border, carrying all the reprisals that left a string of Mexican border towns without journalists, mayors, police chiefs and musicians in 2007.

In another bloody encounter for what has already been a violent year, on 7 January a van full of gunmen ran a roadblock outside the border town of Reynosa, Mexico. Mexican soldiers and federal police chased the van to a small house across the street from the Reynosa police station. The gun battle began soon after. In the aftermath, ten suspects were arrested and five policemen were dead. Along with the suspects, Mexican police seized three automatic rifles, an Uzi submachine gun, grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The US Border Patrol has not taken any extra precautions, but is keeping its agents in the field “abreast of the situation,” according to Border Patrol spokesman Oscar Saldana, who recently spoke with ISN Security Watch.

“We’re advising everyone to be on the alert and be extra cautious because of the situation on the Mexican side,” he said.

Others, however, argue that more action must be taken to prevent the establishment of a significant presence of Mexican organized criminals inside the US. However, preparations on the US side of the border are directly linked to a lack of resources from the federal and state levels.

“What has been appropriated is likely spent,” Kent Lundgren, chairman of the National Former Border Patrol Organization, told ISN Security Watch in a recent telephone interview.

And what may come from the federal government in the future will almost certainly be delayed by the US presidential elections.

When the lives of officers are at stake, Lundgren said, law enforcement must prepare for the worst case scenario, which could be the possibility that a small group of armed men could cross the border and encounter a patrol cruiser. The resulting firefight would be no contest. The heavily armed Mexican criminals would easily overcome one or two Border Patrol agents most likely armed with only pistols.

“We have seen no indication that law enforcement in South Texas is prepared for the worse case in this matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Mexican government has shifted its posture from reactive to proactive. No longer interested in waiting for Mexican organized crime to strike before responding, Mexican President Felipe Calderón wants to hunt them down, starting with Los Zetas in the northeastern Mexican border state of Tamaulipas.

Los Zetas

Commonly known as the enforcement branch of a top tier Mexican drug trafficking organization (DTO) known as the Gulf Cartel, the founding members of this elite group of hit men are former Mexican soldiers who, once trained, left the rank and file to earn money protecting the black market economy.

During their tenure as a paramilitary force overseeing the transshipment of multiple tons of cocaine across the border into the US, Los Zetas was then given orders and controlled by Osiel Cardenas-Guillen, the former head of the Gulf Cartel now awaiting trial in the US.

The extradition of Cardenas in January 2007 caused a rift in his organization’s structure, removing the one power that had been able to contain Los Zetas and solidifying its status as the real power at the border.

Both before and after this change in leadership, the brazen nature of their attacks could be easily discerned from the day-to-day violence in Mexico. Some corpses left in the wake of a hit had the letter “Z” carved into their backs; standoffs in broad daylight against rival DTOs, police and/or military included hi-tech weaponry such as machine guns and RPGs. Newspapers refer to them as narco-soldiers due to their past military training. Their tactics are smooth and confident and their movements organized.

Los Zetas has seen their status exalted from that of hired goons to full-fledged gatekeepers. And the group is now likely a drug trafficking organization itself, having taken over the Gulf Cartel in a slow but steady process during 2007.

Formerly reserved for members of an elite enforcement unit, the term Zeta has begun to encompass members of the antiquated Gulf DTO, rendering the Gulf Cartel to little more than a name, with Los Zetas running the day-to-day operations from a ground-based standpoint.

Their numbers have been reported in the hundreds, but for Calderón there are now only two that matter. The reputed second in command of Los Zetas, Miguel Treviño Morales, is said to be running Nuevo Laredo’s daily operations, while Heriberto “El Verdugo” Lazcano (The Executioner) is said to be moving between Gulf-controlled cities in Tamaulipas to remain out of site.

It was reported that Lazcano was shot to death in October 2007, but he is now believed to be in the Gulf-controlled state of Tamaulipas, possibly the city of Tampico, the same seaside city where authorities seized 11 tons of cocaine in October 2007.

Manhunt

Rather than back off and acquiesce to the din of cries over human rights and increased violence in the wake of a bloody year, Calderón has stepped up the pressure on Los Zetas. He has focused on the state of Tamaulipas on the US-Mexico border where the group has the strongest presence, and where he can apply high pressure.

Considering that the Gulf Cartel’s headquarters is likely in the town of Rio Bravo, between McAllen and Brownsville, Texas, and that many of Los Zetas’ members are still in the state, the first step of Calderón’s operation was to use soldiers to make a literal cordon around the state.

With the Gulf of Mexico to the east and the US-Mexico border to the north, Calderón has focused on blocking the main roads in Tamaulipas that lead from the neighboring state of Nuevo Leon into the state of Coahuila with the help of some 2,300 Mexican soldiers, according to Patricio Patiño Arias, the deputy minister for intelligence and strategy at Mexico’s Ministry of Public Security.

The deputy minister acknowledges that their fight with Los Zetas has reached a new level of importance since the start of the New Year. Now it is a manhunt, and they are after Lazcano and Treviño, the latter believed to control the lucrative route from Monterrey to Nuevo Laredo, across the border from Laredo, Texas: one of the most hotly contested border crossings in all of Mexico.

Patiño Arias told reporters days after the 7 January shootout in Reynosa that the new strategy was “no longer just patrolling” but was now a direct fight “against specific objects, against specific targets that has grown out of important intelligence work.”

Holding the border

But will the border hold? This is a question not so much asked in Washington as in small towns and cities in southern Texas where locals read every day about violent shootouts occurring less than 16 kilometers away across a border that anyone can simply traverse on foot in many areas.

Blocked from escape in any direction but north, leaders and other members of Los Zetas could cross the border into the US as Calderón turns up the pressure in Tamaulipas. If Los Zetas begins running its smuggling operations from inside the US, law enforcement in small Texas towns across the border could be saddled with a serious security threat. But beyond the border, in cities such as Dallas and Houston, law enforcement will also likely feel the brunt of organized crime.

The ten gunmen arrested after the recent Reynosa shootout are all suspected members of Los Zetas, men who report to Treviño. Three of them have US citizenship, suggesting closer ties to the US, specifically Texas, than some may be willing to admit.

Limited resources

Sheriffs of border counties from El Paso to Brownsville, as well as members of the Texas Border Sheriffs Association, have come together to help one another along the Texas-Mexico border in an atmosphere where funds from the federal level are lacking.

“I could use another 50 officers,” Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio told ISN Security Watch, adding, “I have 1,267 square miles to cover. It’s an area larger than the state of Rhode Island.”

Lundgren, of the National Former Border Patrol Organization, believes that no local sheriff or lawman in Texas has the resources or the training necessary for the task. “We believe that in a limited set of circumstances there ought to be military resources on the border that can respond immediately when somebody is in over his head in what is essentially a large-scale firefight,” he said.

“There’s no reason why two border patrolmen or a sheriff’s deputy or anybody else should have to stand there and die just because we’re not prepared to send the troops over to take care of the bad guys in the way it should be done.”

I have a sister who was a heroin addict and as I write this letter, she is dying of Hepatitis C as a result of her addiction. Frankly, suspended ICE Agent Cory Voorhis’ exposure of illegal alien criminals such as heroin dealer Walter Ramos, aka Carlos Estrada Medina, does my heart good.

It’s time we get these drug dealing illegal alien prostitutes and the pimping politicians who serve them off of our streets and out of our government.

The Cory Voorhis case is like an octopus, it goes in many directions but what it all boils down to is that he’s being rail-roaded by those in power who have connections. Governor Ritter’s Ag-trespass plea-bargain gimmick is what should be being discussed nationally and in our courtrooms. Is it really true that Disrict Attorney Morrissey put a stop to the Ag Trespass charade or is that practice still going on under another name?

Next to jailed Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean, the attempted prosecution of Cory Voorhis is the greatest miscarriage of justice I have ever seen. A sitting Governor, a former Congressman, the Denver District Attorney’s Office, and officers of our federal government have conspired to destroy Voorhis and his family. They have sent a very loud message to the other ICE Agents: if you expose the truth, this is what will happen to you.

Cory Voorhis is the kind of guy you would want in the foxhole with you. Cory is an example of the kind of ICE Agent we want and need to protect us from the illegal alien invasion. ICE Agent Voorhis is a veteran who served his country in Desert Storm, he served with the U.S. Border Patrol, and he has been a career ICE Agent for the past 13 years. ICE Agent Voorhis has served his country honorably and bravely, and he has compiled a outstanding record.

With the pending Pedro Castorena case, a case in which Voorhis was the lead investigator, one has to wonder why career-criminal Castorena, with unlimited financial resources to fight his case, will now probably get off with a slap on the wrist. All the pro-illegal alien officers-of-the-law have conspired against Agent Voorhis over something that otherwise would have been handled administratively with, at most, a token suspension from classified ICE duties. What a miscarriage of justice.

My question for Cory’s prosecutors is this: Will you pursue those illegal alien drug smugglers and document fraud criminals as intensely as you are pursuing Cory Voorhis? If not, the public needs to step up to the plate and demand justice.

No family in America should have to put up with the return of illegal alien criminals on our streets.

United States Attorney Johnny Sutton and FBI Special Agent in Charge Ralph Diaz announced the indictment of 23 San Antonio residents, all of whom are in leadership positions in the Texas Mexican Mafia, for violating the federal Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization (RICO) statute.

“Intimidation, violence and murder are standard operating procedure for these gangsters. This indictment is the first step in putting them out of business,” stated United States Attorney Johnny Sutton. “Since 2004, our office has put over 130 members of the Mexican Mafia in federal prison and we are committed to disrupting and dismantling this criminal organization.”

Federal and state authorities arrested TMM Captain Michael Vargas, aka “Mikio,” without incident late yesterday afternoon. Seventeen defendants charged in this indictment were already in custody prior to today. They are:

Jacinto Navajar, aka “Cache”, TMM General Ruben Garcia, aka “Chorre”, TMM Sergeant Ted Ansualda, aka “Porky”, TMM Lieutenant Trinidad Gomez, aka “Trini Boy”, TMM soldier Jesse Ramirez, aka “Chuy”, TMM Captain Billy Silva, aka “Wild Bill”, TMM Asst. General Leonard Tremillo, aka “Joker”, TMM Lieutenant Vidal Longoria, aka “Corky”, TMM Lieutenant Jose Martinez, aka “Bam Bam”, TMM Lieutenant Joe Pena, aka “Pancho”, TMM General Hector Martinez, TMM soldier Jesse Ozuna, aka “Low”, TMM Lieutenant Mark Alvarado, aka “Kickback”, TMM soldier Trinidad Riojas, aka “Trini”, TMM Lieutenant Mike Garcia, TMM Lieutenant Carlos Ybarra, aka “Charlio”, TMM Lieutenant Jesse Rodriguez, aka “Chuy”, TMM Sergeant Authorities are actively searching for the five remaining defendants.

The one-count federal indictment, returned on January 29, 2008, and unsealed on February 1, alleges that the defendants conspired together to further their criminal enterprise by committing 22 murders, 2 attempted murders, 1 solicitation to commit capital murder, robbery and extortion plus distributing heroin and cocaine. Upon conviction, each defendant faces life in federal prison.

Racketeering Acts:

The indictment alleges a pattern of racketeering activity committed by the defendants including the:

• shooting death of Florencio “Lencho” Vasquez in September 2000; • shooting death of Anthony “Tony” Blanco in November 2000; • robbery and subsequent shooting death Michael Sanchez in March 2001; • shooting death of Ruben Hernandez in January 2002; • shooting death of Ernest Guzman in May 2002; • shooting death of Jose “Arte” Moreno in June 2002; • shooting death of Henry “Guero” Cantu in December 2002; • shooting death of Agustin “Augie” Macias in July 2003; • shooting death of Jose “Speedy” Lopez in July 2003; • shooting death of Raymond “Mon” “Nochipa” Rodriguez in September 2003; • shooting death of Jesse “Psych” Medina in February 2004; • shooting death of Robert “Beto” Gleason in March 2004; • shooting death of Robert “Robe” Murillo Fernandez in August 2004; • shooting death of Jesse “Pelon” Guevara in August 2004; • shooting death of Mercy Brooks in September 2004; • shooting death of Tony Rodriguez in November 2004; • shooting death of Juan “Green” Perez in December 2004; • shooting death of Roy Vera in December 2004; • shooting death of Joe Santos in November 2004; • shooting death of Rudy “Scooby” Contreras in January 2005; • shooting death of Hector Martinez in January 2005; • shooting death of Robert Sanchez in April 2005; • attempted murder of Ruben Rodriguez in January 2002; • attempted murder of Ernesto “Neto” Rodriguez in June 2007; • solicitation of the capital murder of Lydia Castro in January 2003; • obtain large amounts of heroin and cocaine for further distribution and sale; • control the distribution of heroin and cocaine by restricting drug trafficking among non-Texas Mexican Mafia members to those who paid extortion fees or a “tax;” • protect “authorized” drug distributors from robbery, violence and competition; and, • using violence in all forms and degrees to enforce the Texas Mexican Mafia drug distribution “tax.”

The Mexican Mafia was formed in the early 1980’s in the Texas prison system when predominantly Hispanic inmates banded together during a period of turmoil and violence within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Over the years, the gang has focused its efforts to promote widespread criminal activity including narcotics trafficking, extortion and murder. Also known as “Mexikanemi” or “La Eme,” the organization was the subject of a 1993 federal indictment in the Western District of Texas which resulted in the conviction of Heriberto “Herb” Huerta, the then President of the organization, and a number of his fellow gang members on drug charges.

In 1998, another federal indictment resulted in the conviction of Robert “Beaver” Perez, a Mexican Mafia General, and 15 other fellow gang members for their pattern of racketeering activity including six murders committed in 1994 and 1995 in the City of San Antonio and eight murders allegedly committed by gang members in 1997. The 1997 homicides included the shotgun killing of five people at a residence on West French Place on August 8, 1997.

In 2004, 25 members of the Mexican Mafia were indicted and convicted of federal drug, firearm and money laundering charges. During the time of the conspiracy, the organization was responsible for distributing over 150 kilograms of cocaine and over 30 kilograms of heroin. Authorities also seized approximately 80 firearms and approximately $50,000 in cash.

Laws aimed at hiring illegal workers drive many to Texas.

Crackdown in nearby states brings influx

By JAMES PINKERTON

Illegal immigrants are flowing into Texas across its long borders. But they aren’t just swimming across the Rio Grande from Mexico or making dangerous treks through the rugged desert.

Instead, a new rush of illegal immigrants are driving down Interstate 35 from Oklahoma or heading east to Texas from Arizona to flee tough new anti-illegal immigrant laws in those and other states.

Though few numbers are available because illegal residents are difficult to track, community activists say immigrants have arrived in Houston and Dallas in recent months, and they expect hundreds more families to relocate to the Bayou City soon.

”They’re really tightening the screws,” said Mario Ortiz, an undocumented Mexican worker who came to Houston after leaving Phoenix last year. ”There have been a lot coming — it could be 100 a day.”

The growing exodus is the result of dozens of new state and local laws aimed at curbing illegal immigration. The two toughest measures are in Oklahoma and Arizona.

The Oklahoma statute, which took effect in November, makes it a crime to transport, harbor or hire illegal immigrants. Effective Jan. 1, the Arizona law suspends the business license of employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers. On a second offense, the license is revoked.

”It’s a wave that’s happening across the United States,” said Nelson Reyes, executive director of the Central American Resource Center in Houston, which has helped immigrants who recently relocated in Houston from Virginia and South Carolina. ”There is a migration, within the United States, to the states and cities more receptive to the reality of the undocumented immigrant.”

So far, results of the new laws have been dramatic.

No restrictive laws here

In Oklahoma, one builder estimated that 30 percent of the Hispanic work force left Tulsa. Reports out of Arizona indicate that several restaurants have closed in Phoenix because of a shortage of workers, and vacancies at apartment complexes are increasing, in part because of departing immigrants.Experts predict immigrants will flock to Houston and other cities in Texas because of the state’s reputation as a welcoming destination.

The construction industry in Texas has largely weathered a national housing slump, they note, adding there is a long tradition of relying on skilled labor from Latin America.

And so far, Texas has not passed any statewide law targeting the employment of undocumented workers.

The Department of Homeland Security estimates that 1.6 million illegal immigrants were in Texas in 2006.

”Texas is still very much an entrepreneurial place, where you can find your place in this economy,” said James Hollifield, a Southern Methodist University professor and migration expert. ”It’s not an immigrant’s paradise, but if you work hard and keep your head down you can get ahead.”

Mayra Figueroa, director of American For Everyone, a Houston nonprofit that advocates for labor rights of immigrants, said the strict laws in other states are pushing immigrants to Houston.

”There were a lot of people moving from Houston to Oklahoma, and now they’re coming back because they are not able to work,” said Figueroa, adding that many of them are Central American refugees. ”I can say hundreds of families are coming to cities like Houston, because of the law.”

But the influx of undocumented workers into Texas is not welcomed by everyone. Critics say illegal immigrants are taxing government resources, such as hospital emergency rooms and public schools.

”That is not good,” Larry Youngblood, leader of the Houston chapter of the Texas Border Volunteers, said about the new wave of immigrants. ”We’ve got about 400,000 to 450,000 in Houston already. And obviously they’re not all day laborers — not all are criminals — but we don’t need more.”

”We have to assume they’ll bring some wives and kids with them, so therefore our schools will be re-inundated. And traffic will be worse, too.”

Labor up, income down

Some of the new residents are working as day laborers in Houston including Oscar Jeovani Fernandez, a 36-year-old Honduran native who left Oklahoma. He said he is lucky now if he can work two or three days and earn $150 a week — a far cry from his steady job pulling down $600 a week hanging wallboard for a home builder near Tulsa.

”I was working there in September, but they passed a law that allows the local police to act like immigration agents,” Fernandez said. ”I came here 25 days after they passed the law — I wasn’t going to let them experiment on me.”

Ortiz, a native of southern Mexico, said he left Phoenix eight months ago working 60 to 70 hours a week as a nursery worker.

Immigration agents raided his job site, but he evaded arrest.

Now, he’s standing on Houston street corners. He said that in a good week he can pick up two or three days of yardwork. He barely earns enough, after paying his rent and food bills, to send money home to his wife and son in Tabasco state.

”Here, they let you work. Over there, they won’t. There is a lot of racism, but here there isn’t — it’s better,” Ortiz said of Houston. ”They welcome you here in Texas, because here, they don’t do anything to you.”

Enrique Hubbard, Mexico’s consul general in Dallas, said a dozen Mexican families from Okahoma have applied for consular documents listing their new residences in the Dallas area. He expects more to arrive because jobs are available in North Texas.

”There is opportunity in construction in the housing market in Dallas, so they will move here,” he said. ”Perception is very important, and a lot of people see this negative attitude growing so they say, ‘Let’s look for another place,’ particularly if they have relatives and contacts in another place.”

Taking their leave

The flight from Oklahoma began the month before the new law known as House Bill 1804 took effect, business leaders in Oklahoma say. In Tulsa, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has estimated that 15,000 to 25,000 illegal immigrants have left the area.”Thirty percent of our Hispanic labor force left Tulsa — it was a huge hit, and it was almost overnight,” said Greg Simmons, owner of Simmons Homes, Tulsa’s largest home builder.

Based on his conversations with subcontractors, Simmons said they went to Texas and Kansas or returned to Mexico.

Jose Alfonso, pastor of the Cornerstone Hispanic Church in Tulsa, said 15 percent of the congregation’s 425 members have left for Texas or California.

”It’s been a very difficult situation for our church and the Hispanic community,” said Alfonso, whose church is one of several who are challenging the law in federal court.

Business leaders say local police in Tulsa have mounted a campaign to target immigrants and have deported many after they were arrested for minor traffic offenses.

”I think we swung the pendulum too far; we’re hurting people, the immigrant families, and we’re going to hurt the economy,” said Mike Means, executive vice president of the Oklahoma State Homebuilders Association, which has 3,600 members across the state.

‘A tremendous impact’

The effect of the new law can be seen in the many signs advertising rental property vacated by departing immigrants, said David Castillo, the executive director of the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.”There’s been a tremendous impact in Oklahoma City,” Castillo said. “We’ve had several companies close shop and leave the state. Banks have called us and say they’re closing 30 accounts per week.”

As the implications of laws in other states play out, Hubbard, the Mexican consul from Dallas, doubts many immigrants will go back to Mexico.

‘I think they will relocate. They will at least give it one more try,” Hubbard said. ”It’s very difficult to cross the border, and expensive, too.”

ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE: MACABRE WALTZ INTO THE ABYSS

“If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation, and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power of money should be taken from banks and restored to Congress and the people to whom it belongs. I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money, are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

Despite clever word smithing coming out of the mouths of polished politicians and high paid illusion artists for networks like FOX (in for a very rough 2008) News, only someone in extreme denial can ignore the true state of America’s economy. I’ve written about it for years, warning people that while Congress continues to write hot checks, kissed, blessed and signed off by whatever banking cartel water boy is sitting in the White House, the powder keg was just waiting to blow. BOOM.

With two or three exceptions (Dr. Ron Paul being the stand out), the U.S. House of Representatives, comprised of useful fools, the functionally illiterate and stinking buzzards, has just passed another monumental piece of lunacy called an “economic stimulus package.” This $1.5 BILLION dollar shell game will stimulate nothing and let me tell you why.

One: There is no money in the U.S. Treasury. As I write this column, the people’s purse is overdrawn $9,203,187,681,379.26. Every one of those “economic stimulus package” checks sent out to the American people will be a hot check written against an account that’s over drawn $9.2 TRILLION DOLLARS. How can Congress do this? They do it by borrowing from the unconstitutional central bank called the “Federal” Reserve. By the time the interest is paid on this grotesque “stimulus package,” the tab will be $3 BILLION dollars.

Two: There will be no economic stimulus because this is just another Band Aid being applied in an attempt to stop the patient on the operating table from hemorrhaging to death. Whatever the amount, at this time it appears to be a $600.00 hot check to individuals and a $1200.00 hot check to couples, it will get spent right away. Because tens of millions of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, it’s doubtful these ‘hot bux’ will go into a savings account. Off the struggling middle class will go to Wal Mart to buy needed products made in commie China, which increases the trade deficit that most Americans neither understand nor have any interest in because daily survival is all consuming.

Third: Now that this quick fix called ‘hot bux’ is spent, what did it accomplish? Like a heroin junkie, flash bang, but then right back to reality and looking for the next fix. Let’s not forget that these hot checks might be in the mail sometime in May – almost four months down the road. Yesterday’s rate drop by the privately owned “FEDwill not be felt for six-eight months down the road, long after many more Americans will have already drowned and small businesses had their ‘final liquidation – going out of business’ sales.

Fourth: Here’s the part that proves these miscreants in Congress are not only unfit for office, but border on the brink of mental illness – ILLEGAL aliens will also get these “tax rebates.” No, you’re not reading that wrong. Comrade Pelosi and her gang of nitwits passed this bill which contains a provision to give criminals (illegals who smuggle themselves across our borders) who “earn” $3,000 per year by stealing jobs they have no legal right to have, a $300.00 hot check and your children and grand babies will be the ones to inherit the debt. Yesterday, the counterfeit senate scared for their political future this November, killed that provision in their version of this grotesque “stimulus” package; who knows what the final carrot will look like.

Fifth: The massive “entitlement” programs already gasping for some sort of life line, are now like full grown hippos looking to mother government to bail them out for another month, then another month, then another month. If you missed Carolyn Lochhead’s bombshell column back in 2004, she gave the numbers that shocked a whole lot of people – except Congress who remained in their delusional states of self-importance as the cancer continued to fester. BOOM.

Isn’t that a great solution to our “ailing economy”? There’s no money in the treasury, but Congress, signed off by Bush, will run up another $3 BILLION borrowed dollars in debt. Cuckoo! Cuckoo! If Democrats think Pelosi’s House is going to do anything to stop what’s coming, just think of this past year under her “leadership”: chaos and fluff and puff while our soldiers continue to die in Iraq and Afghanistan.

[Correction: I made a typo. The economic stimulus package at this time is $150 billion, not $1.5 billion. I left off the zero. By the time the interest is paid to the privately owned FED, it will be roughly $300 billion borrowed dollars.]

While the FBI is now investigating sub prime mortgage fraud, Marxist Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue to jawjack how they have the magic fix to help the masses. Establishment lackeys, Flip Romney and notoriously hot tempered, John McCain talk the worn out “tax cuts.” Folksy, Brother Huckabee’s ignorant promotion of a “fair tax” shows his lack of qualification on the subject. Of course, all of this is just a continuation of the dance into the abyss because it means nothing in real time.

On January 23, 2008, I went in search of a tent city located in Ontario, California, about a 45-minute drive (depending on traffic) East of LA. While I had an approximate idea of the location, West end of the Ontario Airport, I knew I would have to do a little bit of searching. It didn’t take long. The stench of human waste and garbage was so over powering, I picked it up a half mile away.

This tent city is shocking to see up close. It is reminiscent of photos from the artificially engineered Great Depression, only in living color. The city is doing their best to help these folks, but that cost gets passed on to the productive in Ontario and the county itself in higher taxes.

One young man I interviewed asked me not to take his photo because he’s looking for work. While the majority of Americans living at this tent city are simply those left with no place to go for various reasons, this 30-ish, educated American lost his home through foreclosure several months ago. As he sat, stroking his cat, a sad story emerged. Caught up in the hype about the glorious state of the economy, he and his wife bought a house with an ARM (adjustable rate mortgage) in a high ticket market. When it came time to face the reality of a bigger payment, credit card debt to the max and little savings, the first loss was the house, then the marriage due to stress and then his job.

If you think this tent city is just a bunch of bums, not true. The city has stepped in with out houses and getting children transported to local schools. The adults milling around were dressed middle class, some cooking over open fires, others in groups talking. I asked one lady who came near the curb to dump some water if she wouldn’t mind speaking with me? She said yes, but was defensive because a lot of media have been around and apparently some of the coverage has been less than kind. Single mother with two children; husband skipped out so there’s no help there. Evicted because she couldn’t pay her rent with the taxes eating both of her paychecks – Mr. Bush’s idea of the American dream: multiple, low paying jobs while our good jobs are destroyed through trade treaties signed by him, his father and Bill Clinton. The conversation moved to the high cost of everything and despair. This in a land rich in human and natural resources. I left this tent city knowing it’s not going to be the last one on the American landscape.

Are Americans now burning their homes to the ground to collect the insurance instead of facing foreclosure? Others are just walking away from their loans. What happens to the local economy when foreclosures in one county (Lee, Florida) numbered 1,441 in December and 7,324 for the year? When you add the financial time bomb Jeb Bush built and lit before he left office now ready to go off, the citizens of Florida face a frightful future. According to one real estate tracking service, the number of U.S. homes that slipped into some stage of foreclosure in 2007 was a stunning 79 percent higher than in the previous year. Recession is the word being used for a “soft” market, but look out as 2008 progresses because it’s going to get far, far worse than most Americans can envision.

In their effort to shore up disaster, Congress and the thieves at the FED have been bailing out Wall Street, the bankers and their own backsides. After all, it’s not the little guy out there filling their campaign coffers with ill gotten gains, it’s the corporations that own them right along with their magical money machine, the “Federal” Reserve. As the carnage begins to spread deeper into American households, Americans will demand more and more from mother government to bail out their bacon. Of course, it never seems to sink in that it’s the American people themselves who reelect (with the help of high tech rigging) the same crooks who continue to spend recklessly on unconstitutional expenditures; just read this one. Bring home the bacon? Nothing like getting fat off the hog and then dropping dead from all that pork.

So few Americans understand the relationship between the FED and their wallet. They have little or no understanding of the money trail between the IRS and the FED. Those who do have been buying gold as a hedge against what IS already underway. I’m not a gold dealer, but if you’re considering protecting what you have left, I always recommend El Dorado Gold. Professional like Harvey (Phoenix) 602.228.8203 and Eric (Florida) 623.643.8786, are highly knowledgeable and can get you on the right path to financial security. I get sick just thinking about the real time jeopardy to the trillion dollars in pension funds at risk right along with 401K savings; here’s just one example. How many times have I encouraged Americans to listen to David Walker, Comptroller General of these united States of America trying to warn the American people about the financial tsunami that is now building speed? Too many to count along with hundreds of other writers.

Ron Paul has a bill lingering in Congress since July 15, 2007, to abolish the unconstitutional Federal Reserve. There are no sponsors. Why? Because without the central bank to borrow from on a daily basis, Congress would be unable to write hot checks to the tune of more than NINE TRILLION BORROWED DOLLARS. Because without the central bank to borrow from, Bush would not be able to steal from the American people to fund his nebulous and endless “war on terror,” his unconstitutional nation building or endless “wars of liberation” to the tune of almost ONE TRILLION BORROWED DOLLARS.

Yes, the numbers are staggering and there isn’t going to be any quick fix. Financial analysts whose reputations will soon be in tatters and craven elitists like George Bush and his minions, are hoping that the massive consumer dollars generated by the American people will save the day, but it’s not going to happen. This is why so many Americans support Dr. RON Paul for president. They know he’s the only candidate from either party who truly understands our monetary system and limited, constitutional government. One must remember that the next president won’t be seated in the Oval Office for another year and by that time, between hyper inflation and more heavy taxation eating what little the American people have, the picture is indeed grim.

If Ron Paul were to win the presidency and Dr. Edwin Vieira as Secretary of the Treasury in his administration, we would begin the recovery process towards a true and honest monetary policy and an elimination of the unnecessary federal income tax. If that doesn’t happen, we will see more tragedy for our nation. As Dr. Vieira said almost a year ago: “Rest assured that what you decide today you will be required to live with tomorrow. For the fiscal gap is a national trap that is inexorably closing. Once the financial swallows come home to the Disgrace of Columbia, there will be no going back—only “forward,” into the New World Disorder of economic dislocation and deprivation enforced by a thoroughgoing police state.”

You’ve heard the expression, “It’s not over until the fat lady sings.” Can you hear the cacophony of sound from millions of Americans yet? You will, but it won’t sound like singing.
